Studio
Two signatures, one material
TAS ART is two perspectives: Selin, interior architect and artist, thinks every piece from the room it will live in. Tas, welding specialist and artist, sets every seam by hand.
The result: art objects with character, private or public, one metre or five.
I grew up in my father’s upcycling business, which has existed for more than 40 years. That is where I learned to see the potential in discarded materials. For around two years now, I have been transforming old oil barrels into unique pictures – every work tells its own story.
Read my story
My story began more than 40 years ago – at a time when sustainability was not a trend but a conviction. My father founded an upcycling business back then because he firmly believed that valuable materials should not be discarded but rethought. To him, every object held the potential for a second life.
I grew up with this philosophy. Even as a child I spent many hours in the workshop and discovered the creative world of upcycling. Old oil barrels were never waste to me, but canvases full of possibilities. With creativity, craftsmanship and great attention to detail, they became my first works of art.
This passion has stayed with me to this day. With the same enthusiasm, I transform used oil barrels into unique works of art. Every barrel tells its own story – shaped by traces of use, colors and textures that make it unmistakable. It is precisely this authenticity that gives each work its individual character and makes every piece truly one of a kind.
To me, upcycling means far more than reuse. It is the art of giving new value to the past and creating something extraordinary from what already exists. The result: works that are not only sustainable, but also carry personality, history and emotion.
With every artwork I carry my father’s vision forward – a vision that unites tradition, sustainability and modern design. Each of my works stands for the conviction that something new can emerge from the old – unique, timeless and handcrafted with passion.
